POV have recently completed a project for our friends a Haymarket publishing for their technology publication, Stuff Magazine. Our mission was to create 4 videos in the style of a James Bond Q briefing showcasing Sony’s new technology.
Produced in association with Sony, the videos star actress Bonnie Engstrom as our Q character and can be viewed by readers of the magazine when they scan certain pages with their mobile phones.
The videos are viewable in the November Bond themed edition of the magazine which is available now. To view the videos viewers will need to install the Blippar app on their Android or IOS device.
Last weekend POV’s founder Leigh Emmerson teamed up once again with Basingstoke based film collective Pork Chop Pictures. Last time they worked together was on the hugely successful ‘Meat’ short film and spin off series of webisodes where Leigh acted as DOP. This time he was a the helm directing another comedy short entitled ‘Spooked’. The story follows our feckless hero Dermot who discovers his house is haunted. Penned by Pork Chop Pictures’ Mark Brennan, the film features flying remote controls, ghostly Doritos and promises to be an entertaining, if slightly quirky watch. The stars, Ryan Mercier and Hannah Aine Smith as well as the rest of the crew did a sterling job on what turned out to be a very long day’s shoot.
Watch out of the short in the next few months. We’ll keep you posted as to when and where there film will be shown.
This week we’ve been filming at Teddington Studios with our colleagues at Haymarket. The star was a revolutionary mouse by electronics giant HP. The mouse, which is the first of it’s kind, connects to laptops and desktop computers wirelessly using WI-FI rather than the traditional cable or Bluetooth. This novel approach means, laptops without bluetooth functionality don’t require an additional USB dongle, and laptops with Bluetooth, can have it turned off saving valuable battery life. The video fronted by Stuff Magazine’s Nic Shaw will be released later this year.
POV have been contracted to shoot and film two YouTube virals for corporate training firm THM. The first one, entitled ‘It isn’t Rocket Science’ was filmed last week and contains footage of the firm in action at one of their hands-on management training sessions along with actual NASA Apollo footage as well as the launching of a model rocket made out of a lemonade bottle. Post production on the project is sheduled for next month and the videos will appear on YouTube later this year.
Short horror film Meat… for which POV provided cinematography earlier in the year, recently picked up a clutch of awards at the ’2 Days Later’ film festival. As well as walking away with the coveted ‘AUDIENCE BEST POPULAR SHORTLISTED FILM’, James Burton won best actor and the film’s producer Mark Brennan collected a well deserved best screenplay award.
If you would like to see the ten minute short, it’s now on youtube so enjoy!

POV’s specialist filming services were commissioned recently by cult motoring website Pistonheads. We were asked to film PH editor Chris Rosamond as he visited Nissan’s technical facility at Germany’s infamous Nürburgring to see the new Nissan GT-R in testing.
As well as an exclusive interview with the father of this unique car, GT-R program chief Kazutoshi Mizuno, he also took three breathtaking laps of this world famous circuit in the GT-R. Two in the passenger seat with legionary ringmeisters Toshio Suzuki and Dirk Schoysman and one at the controls under Dirk’s expert instruction.
This is where the real fun started. With the ring costing thousands of euros an hour to rent there was no time to waste. POV fitted the test car with 2 specialist mini cameras and full size camera using specialist mounts to record these laps for the PH readers in full 720p high definition. To date we have produced 17 separate video clips for the website, some of which have already racked up in excess of 7000 hits.
Thanks PH for getting us in for such a fun project!

Back in 2008 POV were commissioned by our production partners Trigger Concepts, to come up with a creative treatment and produce two health and safety videos for British Gas Services. These videos formed the foundation for a bold new internal campaign to cut down LTAs (lost time incidents). The campaign, titled ‘what if?’ has just won the top trophy at the IOSH (institute of Occupational Safety and Health awards).
As well as the prestigious ‘Campaign of the Year’ award it also received a highly commended in the ‘Best Achievement in a Utility and Offshore’ category.
‘What if…?’ has been hugely successful in reducing the number of LTAs and in motivating people to personally embrace the safety message.
We at POV would like to congratulate BGS and Trigger and thank them for the opportunity to contribute on such a worth while project.
POV owner, Leigh Emmerson, provided his expertise at the weekend to help Pork Chop Pictures film their short horror film ‘MEAT”. The film is being entered into the ’2 days later’ short film competition. The rules of this competition stipulate the film must be shot within 48 hours. MEAT and the other entries will be screened on Halloween at the Theatre Royal Margate and will be judged by a panel of industry experts. Fingers crossed they’re not vegetarian!
Working for leading car magazine Autocar, POV have been one of the first to see the new Noble M600 prototype in the flesh. This 200 MPH plus super car is British and we were there to film Autocar journalist Steve Sutcliffe’s first reactions driving it.
As the car is still in prototype it has the matt black finish as apposed to a normal paint job which we think makes it even more cool – just like the bat mobile but hey what do we know?! Look out for Steve’s video which will be uploaded soon onto the autocar.co.uk website and look out for the full article appearing in the magazine sometime soon.
We can’t tell you what Steve thought about the car yet but lets just say we were mightily impressed unfortunately not having a spare few hundred thousand kicking around at the moment we won’t be ordering one just yet!
POV along with partners the University of Surrey Television have just completed a eight month project to produce a promotional video for the Lions clubs of Great Britain and Ireland. The video, which is presented by Penelope Keith, charts the origins of this international organisation and tells the story of how Lions clubs came into being in this country. It also highlights the amazing work the organisation does word wide.
The Lions press and publicity co-ordinator Bill Blake commented that the video ‘exceeded their expectations’. We at POV certainly learnt a great deal about this extraordinary organisation in making the film and hope it will help them to continue do their incredible work in to the 21st century.
